- The concession guarantees the deployment of chargers in healthcare centers, promoting sustainable mobility and facilitating the charging of electric vehicles throughout the region.
- Wenea and SferaOne will invest in the deployment of this network, which will be operated under a concession model for 8 years. The chargers will have the optimal power for electric vehicle charging service in these locations, which are frequented by workers, patients, and visitors.
Andalusia, May 30, 2023 – Wenea, an independent leader in electric vehicle charging services in Spain, has been awarded the contract for the public domain concession, along with SferaOne. In this tender, of which Iberdrola was also awarded a portion, the Wenea-SferaOne consortium obtained 80% of the 308 chargers for the deployment, maintenance, management, and operation of all charging stations. This remarkable figure demonstrates the commitment of both companies to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in the region and contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions associated with road traffic.
The concession process was managed by the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), which recognized the importance of having electric charging infrastructure in its healthcare centers. Thanks to this concession, electric vehicle customers will enjoy the convenience and accessibility of strategically located chargers throughout Andalusia. Chargers with a power of up to 22 kW will be deployed. The presence of these chargers in Andalusia’s healthcare centers will benefit not only healthcare professionals but also patients and visitors, who will be able to charge their electric vehicles during their stay at the centers.
The chargers located in the healthcare centers will be available to any driver through the Wenea mobile application, compatible with both Android and iOS devices. Through this application, electric vehicle owners will have real-time access to information about the location of charging points, can check the availability of each connector, verify the status of their charging, and review their payment history.
«We are paving the way towards a more sustainable future. As leaders in electric mobility, we are proud to operate this network of charging stations in Andalusia, offering a service that meets the needs of the new electric vehicle customer in these locations,» stated Alberto Cantero, CEO of Wenea.
Meanwhile, Pedro Cuevas, CEO of SferaOne, adds, «We are proud to be part of this ambitious project in Andalusia. Our experience in deploying charging infrastructure allows us to collaborate in creating a robust and accessible network that will drive the adoption of electric vehicles and promote a cleaner future for all.»
